2024 MCA AGM Adds New Club Membership Option

The Midwest Croquet Association held its 2024 AGM on February 17, 2024, as an online meeting to discuss the future strategy for croquet in Kansas City and the entire Midwest region. The meeting was attended by all board members and one standard member.

The top highlight from the meeting was the addition of a new club membership option for $50 that allows clubs to join the MCA with up to 10 individual memberships included at no additional charge. Additionally, membership above 10 would be charged to the member club at just $2 per player. For example, a club with 20 members would pay a total of $70 ($50 fee + 10 x $2). All of the members submitted by the club will enjoy all of the benefits of the MCA standard individual membership.

Club benefits include a listing on the website Find a Club page, a link in the MCA newsletter, eligibility to host MCA events, press release and tournament announcement postings.

In addition to the new club fee, the MCA will re-introduce the standard individual membership at $20 per year. Individual member benefits include discounted entry to MCA-sponsored tournaments, enewsletter subscription and tracking for MCA nine-wicket games played.

In other business, the Missouri Open will be held on May 4, 2024, and hosted at the Greg and Joni Clouse residence in Lee’s Summit. The event will be nine-wicket and played according to MCA Official Nine-Wicket Rules and Tournament Regulations. The event will be managed by Greg Clouse in partnership with the Kansas City Croquet Club.

There were no elections scheduled and all board members confirmed remaining on the board. The board remains as Dylan Goodwin (President), Jodi Adams (Treasurer), Valerie Andruss, Greg Clouse and Justin Marciniak.

It was noted that the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club has announced June 13-16, 2024 for the ScissorTail Championship. The event is American Six Wicket (US) rules and is also the Oklahoma State Championship. In addition, it is anticipated that the Tulsa Croquet Club will host events on Memorial and Labor Day weekends. With that in mind, the MCA is not targeting an event for June and will instead focus on July and September for additional Nine-Wicket Series events.
